What is Perimenopause?

Perimenopause, also known as the menopausal transition, is the period leading up to menopause, during which your body gradually produces less estrogen. This phase can last anywhere from a few months to several years. It officially ends one year after your last menstrual period, marking the beginning of menopause.



When Does Perimenopause Happen?

Perimenopause typically begins in a woman’s 40s, but it can start as early as the mid-30s or as late as the 50s. The average duration is about four years, but for some women, it can be shorter or longer. The onset and duration can vary greatly from one woman to another, depending on various factors, including genetics and overall health.
