Boston Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Supportive Therapy

Hypermobility & Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome

Living with hypermobility, connective tissue disorders, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), or Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) can feel overwhelming.

Most healthcare providers focus on just one piece of the puzzle and you may have spent years searching for answers, being told conflicting information, or feeling like no one truly understands what you're going through.

At Wellest, things are different. We see you. We hear you. Our team of pelvic health physical therapists and a knowledgeable nurse practitioner (NP) work together to help you feel stronger and more stable. We recognize healing isn't one-size-fits-all and tailor our treatments to fit your unique needs, lifestyle, goals, and the bigger picture of your well-being.

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) & Hypermobility

POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome)

We guide you through safe movement strategies, improve circulation, and help manage symptoms like dizziness and fatigue.

MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome)

Our NP can help with prescribing medications to manage symptoms, while our team provides gentle treatments that won’t overload your system.

Endometriosis & Pelvic Health Concerns

Endometriosis is a common comorbidity with hypermobility and connective tissue disorders. We are experts in treating endometriosis-related pain, bladder issues, and pelvic dysfunction with targeted, effective treatments.

Gastrointestinal (GI) Issues

Many people with EDS, POTS, and MCAS experience GI symptoms like bloating, constipation, reflux, or food sensitivities. Our team helps address these concerns with manual techniques such as visceral manipulation and by working closely with providers like functional dietitians to create a plan that supports your digestive health and overall well-being.

When we talk about hypermobility disorders and how they relate to the pelvic floor, there are a few common symptoms to be aware of:

PELVIC PAIN

BLADDER ISSUES

DIGESTIVE PROBLEMS

PAIN OR DYSFUNCTION DURING SEX

Here’s what’s happening: Your pelvic floor is made up of ligaments and connective tissue that surround your organs. With hypermobility, the pelvis and everything in it becomes more “loose” or mobile than it should be. Your body tries to compensate for this lack of stability, which leads to the muscles in your pelvic floor working overtime.

The pelvic floor does a lot.

It’s not only responsible for supporting the structures above it, like your organs, it also absorbs shock from every step you take.

When these muscles are overworked, it can lead to muscle tightness, pain, difficulty using the bathroom, and even things like prolapse or incontinence.

Over time, this strain can build up, and the pelvic floor starts to struggle with its main job—supporting your body. It's important to address these issues early, so your body doesn’t end up in a constant state of overcompensating.

What can I expect in treatment?

We believe in structured, individualized treatment plans that evolve as you progress.

Typically, we see patients once or twice per week, focusing on building strength, stability, and symptom management. After this initial phase, we re-evaluate and transition to a maintenance plan, which may involve biweekly or monthly sessions depending on your needs. Our goal is to provide you with long-term strategies to manage your condition confidently.

Healing doesn’t happen in isolation. Our team works together to provide you with a seamless plan of care.

Your physical therapist and NP communicate about your progress, adjust treatments as needed, and ensure you’re receiving the best possible support. We also have a close-knit network of providers, who are knowledgeable about these conditions. If you need additional care, we connect you with trusted specialists who truly understand complex conditions like yours.

Who will I be working with?

What makes Wellest the best option?

You won’t be given generic exercises that don’t work for your body. Instead, you’ll find a place where you’re deeply understood, where your concerns are taken seriously, and where your care is built around you.
