PELVIC HEALTH NURSE PRACTITIONER

Kathy Kates, NP, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She specializes in pelvic pain, sexual pain, low libido, and hormonal care for perimenopause and menopause. Kathy partners closely with the pelvic floor physical therapy team at Wellest to provide integrative, collaborative care for people experiencing complex pelvic floor dysfunction and sexual health concerns.
With advanced training in sexual medicine and menopausal hormone therapy (MHT), Kathy helps patients navigate the challenges of vulvovaginal atrophy, painful intercourse, orgasm difficulties, and low desire, using a full-spectrum approach that includes hormone support, medication management, and patient-centered education. As a breast cancer survivor, she brings both clinical expertise and personal experience to her practice, offering compassionate and evidence-based care.
Kathy’s commitment to pelvic health extends beyond the clinic. Along with Melissa, she co-founded the Institute for Pelvic Health, an accredited online platform dedicated to educating all clinicians who do pelvic exams: nurse practitioners, midwives, OBGYNs and pcps, in pelvic health—helping to expand awareness and competency in this critical field. Kathy has also consulted for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, raising awareness of pelvic health throughout the commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Outside of medicine, Kathy is a lifelong learner with a unique background as a professional musician, having performed with the Boston Pops and on stages around the world. Her dual passions for the arts and science reflect her holistic approach to health: blending biomechanics, medical innovation, and a deep respect for the body’s innate healing potential.
