Myofascial Release

Myofascial release focuses on treating the fascia and connective tissue in our bodies. Myofascial Release is a technique that involves sustained pressure into the connective tissue or fascial restriction in order to improve function, restore motion, and eliminate pain.

Fascia is a connective tissue that surrounds and protects all structures of the body from muscles and bones to nerves, organs and bloods vessels. It appearance is similar to a spider’s web that continues from head to toe, connecting everything in the body, making this a holistic and whole body therapy.

Normally, fascia should be relaxed and be able to move without restrictions. Restrictions in fascia can be created by trauma, autoimmune conditions or increased inflammation in the body, and surgical procedures. Restrictions in fascia can cause the fascia to shorten and solidify which causes a crushing force onto the structures and cause pain. It is important to note that fascial restrictions do not appear on standard imaging: MRI, CT scans, X-Rays.

Myofascial Release is a unique treatment method that allows the therapist to look at each patient as a unique individual with one-on-one treatments that are hands-on.
